Everyone Is Wrong About AI for Course Creators

Transcript

[00:00] Most people think AI is creating more
[00:02] competition, more creators, and more
[00:04] noise. But I actually think most experts
[00:07] are looking at AI completely backwards.
[00:10] After spending the last 10 years helping
[00:12] businesses turn expertise into courses
[00:15] and educational products, I’ve never
[00:17] seen a technology remove so many
[00:19] barriers so quickly.
[00:21] In this video, I’ll explain why AI isn’t
[00:24] reducing the opportunity for experts.
[00:26] Instead, it is expanding it so that
[00:29] suddenly small teams can compete at a
[00:31] much higher level because while AI can
[00:34] give everyone answers, not everyone
[00:37] knows which answers actually work or
[00:39] which ones are actually accurate. And
[00:41] that may be the biggest opportunities
[00:43] experts have ever seen.
[00:48] When I talk to creators, coaches,
[00:50] consultants, and business owners, I hear
[00:52] the same concerns over and over again.
[00:55] AI can create content instantly.
[00:58] Everyone is launching courses. The
[01:00] market is getting crowded. What if
[01:02] there’s no room left for me? And those
[01:05] concerns are understandable because if
[01:07] all you see is AI generating content, it
[01:09] looks like competition is increasing.
[01:12] But that’s the wrong mindset. The
[01:15] biggest opportunity isn’t AI generated
[01:17] content. Instead, it is what AI does for
[01:20] people who already have the expertise
[01:22] and knowledge.
[01:26] I recently spent time digging into the
[01:29] latest creator economy and research and
[01:32] here is one insight that really stood
[01:34] out to me.
[01:36] The organizations winning right now
[01:38] aren’t using AI to replace the
[01:40] expertise. They’re using AI to remove
[01:43] friction. And that’s a big massive
[01:46] difference and distinction.
[01:48] That is a massive distinction. For
[01:51] years, building an education business
[01:53] required enormous effort. You had to
[01:56] research. You had to build a team. You
[01:59] had to outline.
[02:01] You had to create lessons.
[02:04] You had to build worksheets, workbooks,
[02:07] assignments, quizzes, the entire
[02:10] curriculum, write marketing copy, update
[02:13] content, analyze feedback, and improve
[02:17] the user experience. Your expertise
[02:20] wasn’t the bottleneck. Execution and
[02:22] development was. And that is what AI is
[02:25] changing. For the first time, experts
[02:28] can spend less time producing and more
[02:30] time teaching, serving, and solving
[02:32] problems. And that is where the
[02:34] opportunity starts because the first
[02:37] major shift AI creates isn’t replacing
[02:39] expertise. It is removing the friction
[02:42] that slows experts down. Before we jump
[02:45] into the first opportunity, if you’re
[02:47] interested in using AI, education, and
[02:50] digital products to grow your business,
[02:52] make sure to like and subscribe to my
[02:54] channel for weekly updates. I share
[02:56] practical strategies for course
[02:58] creators, coaches, consultants, and
[03:00] educators who want to scale their
[03:02] expertise and build smarter systems
[03:03] around their business. Now, [snorts]
[03:05] let’s talk about the first opportunity
[03:07] most experts are underestimating about
[03:09] AI.
[03:11] AI actually removes production
[03:13] bottlenecks. A few years ago, an expert
[03:16] came to me with an idea for turning
[03:18] their book into an online course. And I
[03:21] already anticipated that this would be
[03:24] happening. The book was doing well, but
[03:27] the experience of applying lessons from
[03:30] a book is much harder than actually
[03:32] having videos and lessons and
[03:34] assignments inside a course. We’d spend
[03:37] days outlining the course, analyzing the
[03:41] curriculum, workshopping, and mapping
[03:44] out the whole production workflow. That
[03:47] process was very detailed oriented and
[03:50] very lengthy. That is what makes this
[03:53] moment so different. AI dramatically
[03:55] reduces the time required to turn a book
[03:58] into an online program and or course. So
[04:02] what used to take months can now happen
[04:05] in days, sometimes even hours. Now that
[04:09] doesn’t mean AI replaces the subject
[04:11] matter expert. It means that the
[04:14] expertise moves much faster. You still
[04:17] need to know what matters. You still
[04:19] need to apply human wisdom and
[04:21] discernment to what AI is giving you.
[04:24] And you still need the experience and
[04:27] lens as a human being to discern whether
[04:30] the AI output is actually what you’re
[04:32] looking for. But the gap between having
[04:34] the idea and bringing it to market is
[04:37] shrinking rapidly.
[04:39] The people who win won’t necessarily be
[04:41] the smartest. They’ll be the ones who
[04:43] execute fastest.
[04:46] And for years, one of the biggest
[04:47] advantages larger organizations had was
[04:50] scale. They had bigger teams. they could
[04:53] outsource different elements to
[04:55] different team members so they had more
[04:56] specialists and more production
[05:00] capacity.
[05:01] But that’s all starting to change very
[05:03] quickly. I can see it in my own content
[05:07] creation business as well. I use AI
[05:09] throughout my entire YouTube workflow.
[05:12] It helps me to refine scripts,
[05:15] brainstorm thumbnail concepts, evaluate
[05:18] different title ideas, review my
[05:21] analytics, and identify patterns across
[05:25] videos. What used to be a very manual
[05:28] task is now automated and organized for
[05:32] me through AI. What’s interesting is
[05:34] that AI isn’t creating the strategy. is
[05:37] helping me execute the strategy faster
[05:39] and stay organized around the things
[05:41] that matter most. In many ways, it is
[05:43] like having additional support built
[05:45] into the business. Not because AI
[05:48] replaces people, but because it helps me
[05:51] operate with more leverage. I personally
[05:54] believe that we’re going to see more and
[05:56] more people leveraging and using AI,
[05:59] hiring VAS that know how to use AI, that
[06:03] are trained on AGPT, so that they are
[06:06] executing and implementing with the
[06:08] creators brand in mind.
[06:12] And that’s one of the biggest
[06:13] opportunities experts are
[06:14] underestimating right now. Small teams
[06:16] can accomplish things much more that
[06:18] they previously required more
[06:21] significant time, resources, and
[06:23] coordination.
[06:24] Not because that their expertise matters
[06:26] less, but because the friction around
[06:28] execution is disappearing. And when
[06:31] execution gets easier, expertise can
[06:33] move faster. And if you’re looking for
[06:36] practical ways to use AI to build
[06:38] courses, training programs, and
[06:40] educational products faster, I’ve put
[06:43] together a free AI course creation guide
[06:46] PDF linked below, or you can scan the QR
[06:49] code above. [snorts] It walks you
[06:51] through some of the workflows, prompts,
[06:53] and frameworks that I am using to
[06:55] accelerate course development without
[06:57] sacrificing quality and voice. Now let’s
[07:00] look at what I think is one of the most
[07:02] important shifts happening in education
[07:04] right now. Education is becoming a
[07:07] growth infrastructure more and more. And
[07:10] this is the insight that really caught
[07:11] my attention. Most people think
[07:14] education businesses create value by
[07:16] selling courses. But I think something
[07:18] bigger is happening. Education is
[07:20] becoming infrastructure.
[07:23] And I’ve seen this firsthand in my own
[07:25] business. For example, when I’m helping
[07:28] clients learn how to use Thinkific,
[07:30] there are certain questions that come up
[07:32] often and repeatedly. A few years ago,
[07:35] if I wanted to educate a client, I’d
[07:37] often start from scratch, taking
[07:39] screenshots, building sample data,
[07:41] writing explanations, and putting it all
[07:44] into a Google doc and formatting it and
[07:47] cleaning up so that it’s nice and neat.
[07:50] Now with AI, I can just take all my
[07:53] expertise and ask AI to create these
[07:57] screenshots, build a sample dashboard,
[08:00] take my explanation and summarize it and
[08:02] rewrite it more clearly so that I can
[08:05] record them a custom walkthrough video.
[08:08] And so every time I did this, I was
[08:10] essentially building the same
[08:12] educational asset and using it over and
[08:14] over again.
[08:16] Instead of spending hours organizing and
[08:19] formatting information, I can focus on
[08:21] sharing what I know. I give AI the
[08:23] expertise, the process, the guidance,
[08:26] and the context. And they help me
[08:29] organize it, structure it, brand it, and
[08:31] format it into a resource that is ready
[08:33] to use. The most important part isn’t
[08:36] that AI saved me time. The most
[08:38] important part is that the knowledge
[08:40] becomes reusable. [snorts] Instead of
[08:43] answering the same questions over and
[08:44] over again, I can create educational
[08:47] assets that continue delivering value
[08:49] long after they’re built. And that’s
[08:51] what I mean when I say education is
[08:53] becoming infrastructure. It’s not just
[08:55] something you sell. It is something that
[08:57] helps people learn faster, get results
[08:59] faster, and move forward with more
[09:01] confidence. And AI is making it easier
[09:04] than ever to build those systems around
[09:06] your expertise. I don’t use AI to
[09:09] replace expertise. I use AI to package
[09:12] my expertise.
[09:14] So now expertise becomes more value. So
[09:17] now expertise becomes more valuable
[09:20] rather than less. And this is where many
[09:22] people get confused. They assume that
[09:25] because AI can generate information,
[09:27] expertise becomes less important. And I
[09:30] believe the opposite is happening.
[09:33] Imagine two people asking AI the same
[09:35] exact question and both receive a
[09:38] perfectly reasonable answer. One follows
[09:41] it and gets mediocre results. The other
[09:44] immediately knows what to ignore, what
[09:46] to adjust, and how to apply it in the
[09:48] real world. What’s the difference?
[09:51] Experience. And that is expertise. And
[09:55] AI can’t manufacture that. AI
[09:57] [clears throat] can give everyone
[09:58] answers instantly, but not everyone
[10:01] knows which answers actually work. While
[10:04] information is becoming easier to
[10:06] access, knowing what matters is becoming
[10:08] more valuable. Knowing what matters is
[10:11] becoming more valuable. People still
[10:13] want guidance. They still want
[10:15] direction. And they still want someone
[10:17] who can help them avoid mistakes and get
[10:19] results faster. And that is where
[10:21] experts win. The real opportunity isn’t
[10:24] becoming an AI expert. The opportunity
[10:27] is becoming an expert who uses AI and
[10:30] uses it to research faster, build
[10:33] faster, launch faster, and improve
[10:37] faster, but most of all to serve their
[10:40] customers better. The people who thrive
[10:43] in the next decade won’t be the people
[10:45] who create the most content. They will
[10:47] be the people who use AI to create the
[10:49] most value. And that is why I believe
[10:51] most experts are underestimating this AI
[10:54] opportunity. They’re focused on the
[10:56] increase in competition while I’m
[10:58] focused on the increase in leverage. And
[11:00] those are very two different futures and
[11:03] outlooks. If you’re an educator,
[11:05] creator, coach, consultant, or business
[11:07] owner, this isn’t the time to pull back.
[11:10] It is the time to build because the
[11:12] barriers are lower than they’ve ever
[11:14] been, and the opportunity may be bigger
[11:17] than most people realize. And if you are
