[00:00] Imagine drumming up 1,000 new leads for
[00:02] your business in just 10 days all from
[00:04] one YouTube [music]
[00:05] video. No ad spend by the way, no
[00:07] massive following, no million views
[00:09] viral video. Well, in this episode
[00:11] [music] of the Think Media podcast,
[00:12] you’re going to see exactly how we made
[00:14] this happen. Jake Berman is a small
[00:16] business owner from Florida and he
[00:17] actually hired us to take over his
[00:18] YouTube channel and I mean take over.
[00:21] Like I flew out to his physical therapy
[00:22] practice in Florida, we outlined [music]
[00:25] and scripted his videos, shot them,
[00:27] edited them, and we built an entire
[00:28] content strategy around one goal,
[00:30] turning his YouTube channel into a lead
[00:33] machine for his business. So, what
[00:35] you’re about to watch is actually a
[00:36] private session. This was only available
[00:38] in [music] person at one of our Think
[00:40] Media Mastermind events earlier this
[00:42] year in Las Vegas. So, this was never
[00:43] released publicly, [music] but I got the
[00:45] go-ahead to bring this out of the vault
[00:47] because it’s a powerful and actionable
[00:50] case study because most YouTube creators
[00:52] right now are optimizing for views and
[00:53] subscribers
[00:54] >> [music]
[00:54] >> and it’s part of the equation, but if
[00:55] you’re a business owner or you want to
[00:57] be a business owner, the real game is
[00:59] getting YouTube to drive [music]
[01:01] business results as in leads, calls
[01:04] booked, clients closed off platform. So,
[01:07] in this session, you’re going to hear me
[01:09] interviewing Jake on stage and we’re
[01:11] going to break down the exact video idea
[01:13] that generated over 1,000 leads for him,
[01:15] why the title and thumbnail worked, why
[01:16] the content outline worked, and
[01:18] critically, the call to action strategy
[01:20] that actually got people to click his
[01:22] link in the description. [music] And
[01:23] since this session, he’s continued to
[01:25] work with us and his channel actually
[01:26] just hit a brand whole new milestone and
[01:28] I’ll fill you in on that later, but for
[01:29] now, let’s get into it.
[01:32] >> So, I have a physical therapy clinic and
[01:35] had it for 10 years now and that’s my
[01:37] day job. So, a physical therapist by
[01:38] trade,
[01:39] >> [music]
[01:39] >> but that led to an evolution of me
[01:41] specializing in helping senior golfers
[01:44] move better so they could hit the ball
[01:46] further and a completely different
[01:48] spin-off of a different business that’s
[01:50] Berman Golf. So, I had Berman Physical
[01:52] Therapy, my day job, 10 [music]
[01:54] employees in that.
[01:56] And now we have Berman Golf and that was
[01:58] me a one-man band, and it started as a
[02:00] brick-and-mortar
[02:01] >> Oh, yeah.
[02:02] >> 4 or 5 years ago. Then I tried to scale
[02:05] it with employees, and the issue that I
[02:09] was running into was it was so niche
[02:11] what I was doing. It’s It’s the Berman
[02:13] method. It’s not golf lessons. It’s not
[02:15] physical therapy. It’s my own unique way
[02:18] of how I help seniors
[02:20] senior bodies move better so they can
[02:22] hit the ball further.
[02:24] That I couldn’t scale it. I was just
[02:26] running into the people problem, and I
[02:27] couldn’t do it.
[02:29] And um in the meantime, I had been
[02:32] posting videos not thinking about
[02:34] anything, just keep posting videos, no
[02:37] rhyme or reason to it at all.
[02:39] And I had a marketer that was working in
[02:41] my physical therapy practice that kind
[02:44] of just ran with it and started playing
[02:46] around with titles and thumbnails and
[02:47] went from sub a thousand or less than a
[02:51] thousand subscribers to 7,000
[02:54] subscribers. I’m like, “Oh, wow. This
[02:56] This thing’s going.”
[02:57] And then he quits.
[03:00] >> [laughter and gasps]
[03:00] >> So, uh that
[03:01] >> Partner quit. Is your He’s
[03:03] >> The marketer.
[03:03] >> Yeah. Yeah, yeah.
[03:04] >> Yeah, so he quits.
[03:06] And then I go all of 20 So, I go through
[03:09] all of 2024
[03:11] not really doing anything at all.
[03:14] And that was
[03:16] simultaneously happening when I was not
[03:18] unable to scale the brick-and-mortar
[03:21] golf business. And I’m like, “Okay, if
[03:22] that’s not scalable here, let’s go all
[03:24] in on YouTube because in the meantime,
[03:26] running parallel, one of my buddies
[03:28] who’s in my physical therapy mastermind,
[03:30] also as a member of this community,
[03:33] learned how to post videos on YouTube
[03:35] and is just raking in the cash selling
[03:39] back pain, knee pain
[03:41] programs. And I’m like, “All right, F
[03:43] all of this. Let’s Let’s do this.”
[03:47] So, no nothing really happens in 2024.
[03:50] Fast forward, I show up here in 2025
[03:53] February ready to do something.
[03:56] Mainly to
[03:57] get the ball rolling again.
[03:59] >> But this was basically 2024.
[04:02] Um what happened in 2024 and then what
[04:03] happened in 2025. And it’s kind of just
[04:05] like the year before
[04:06] we were, you know, working together and
[04:08] then uh the year during us working
[04:10] together. So it’s good context because
[04:12] what I love about the slide is just how
[04:13] we’ve redeemed the year. He said not a
[04:15] lot was going on. You had like your your
[04:17] marketing marketing guy quit. And then
[04:20] what was your upload schedule like then
[04:22] after that happened cuz he was kind of
[04:23] helping you do a lot.
[04:25] >> It was whenever
[04:27] >> Whenever you could.
[04:27] >> Like [laughter] there was no schedule.
[04:29] >> Yeah.
[04:30] >> It was just whenever.
[04:31] >> It just happened as you could. Okay, so
[04:33] um you told me
[04:35] when we linked up and this might have
[04:37] been even during like a recent call or
[04:39] something, you told me that
[04:42] things come easy to you.
[04:43] But YouTube is different.
[04:46] You told me this straight up. You’re
[04:47] like, “Okay, the I like you cuz you’re
[04:49] doctor physical therapy, successful
[04:52] brick-and-mortar business.
[04:54] You know what I mean? Like you’ve had a
[04:55] lot of success, but then trying to do
[04:57] YouTube is just different is the words
[04:59] you used. What was it like when you were
[05:01] creating videos
[05:03] in this time period of like the 2024
[05:05] before even linking up? Like how were
[05:07] you going about a video? Was it
[05:08] intentional or you would just walk
[05:09] through like a whole bunch of stuff
[05:10] about like titles, thumbnails, the
[05:11] outlier framework? What was your What
[05:13] was your Jake’s framework?
[05:16] Beforehand.
[05:17] >> [laughter]
[05:17] >> One take Jake.
[05:18] >> One take Jake.
[05:19] >> I mean there was
[05:21] That was it. I mean cuz I’m back in the
[05:23] treatment room doing physical therapy
[05:25] stuff and then one of my guys would say,
[05:27] “Hey, let’s record a video.” Okay, walk
[05:29] out of the treatment room. Let’s do
[05:30] change brain real quick. All right,
[05:32] thinking about golf now and All right,
[05:35] you’re you’re recording? Let’s go. One
[05:37] take Jake. 100% of my videos are one
[05:40] take Jake. I never watched any of my
[05:42] videos.
[05:42] >> Oh, you never watched them after?
[05:44] >> Never never watched just video.
[05:47] Never retook a video. I don’t I can’t
[05:50] remember a time where I retook a video.
[05:52] >> You’re so just actually one take and
[05:55] then didn’t even watch it.
[05:56] >> Never watched it.
[05:58] >> This is amazing. I’m so glad we’re
[05:59] hanging out. Okay, I had
[06:00] >> [laughter]
[06:02] >> This is a fun slide that you didn’t know
[06:03] that I was preparing, but I just found
[06:05] it in your back end.
[06:08] And
[06:08] >> [laughter]
[06:08] >> okay.
[06:09] And I just want you to look at what you
[06:12] titled it maybe it was you or your
[06:14] partner whatever what you titled the
[06:16] file name
[06:18] for this video.
[06:21] >> [laughter]
[06:26] [laughter]
[06:26] >> Isn’t that amazing? I’ll get you a
[06:28] t-shirt with that on there. That’s
[06:29] great.
[06:31] >> [laughter]
[06:31] >> No, but this is real I like Do you
[06:33] remember was that you or was that
[06:34] someone on your team messing with you?
[06:35] >> That definitely was not me.
[06:36] >> Okay.
[06:36] >> [laughter]
[06:37] >> We have confirmation it was not you, but
[06:39] I thought that was fun cuz it was
[06:40] indicative of I think that time period.
[06:43] And you’re cool because Yeah, you’re
[06:45] you’re just such an honest guy and you
[06:47] told you told me that when we met up.
[06:48] You’re like
[06:49] I don’t want to have to re-film. I don’t
[06:52] want to have to be thinking through all
[06:53] these different parts, but you will. You
[06:55] said but I will if that’s if that’s what
[06:58] I need to do. You’re like I’m here to
[06:59] learn the process. I’m here to not do
[07:01] the same thing that I was doing
[07:03] talking about stuff. I want to do it a
[07:04] different way, you know? And so I I’d
[07:06] love to talk through this uh video
[07:09] uh that we had cuz beforehand you know
[07:12] like 3 years on YouTube before we like
[07:14] before we linked up. And you did have
[07:15] popular videos. But it’s kind of what I
[07:17] was talking about was like there was no
[07:18] system attached to them. So like like
[07:20] you said like you had videos do well,
[07:21] you grew to 7,000 subscribers.
[07:24] But the ripple effect of that
[07:26] just how that compares to this most
[07:27] recent video is what I’d like to get
[07:29] into. So
[07:31] um there’s what you told me YouTube’s
[07:32] different. This one right here. So this
[07:34] is the video just a few months ago
[07:37] from this one video and we’re able to
[07:38] track that
[07:39] with the amount of views it got in 10
[07:41] days, 1,000 leads.
[07:44] So, before we get into that part, like
[07:46] the call to actions and stuff, I would
[07:48] just love to hear you kind of recount as
[07:50] someone who was a one taker, as someone
[07:52] who was busy, right, as a business
[07:54] owner, trying to figure out this YouTube
[07:56] stuff,
[07:57] how was the process different when we
[08:00] were filming this video?
[08:04] Oh, boy.
[08:04] >> It was brutal.
[08:06] It was just
[08:07] >> Yeah.
[08:08] >> It was absolutely brutal. I mean, we we
[08:10] spent a few hours
[08:11] >> Yeah.
[08:12] >> before we even pressed play or record.
[08:15] And I’m going, this is just like, holy
[08:18] cow.
[08:18] >> Nathan, what are you doing to me?
[08:19] >> Yeah.
[08:20] >> But, at the same time, as he’s going
[08:22] through all this, I’m going, yes.
[08:24] >> Mhm.
[08:25] >> Like, yes.
[08:26] >> Mhm.
[08:26] >> Because it’s it just makes so much sense
[08:28] once we start to iterate, iterate,
[08:30] iterate. Like, just give me a little bit
[08:32] more. Like, your go-to is this I’m
[08:35] fighting for this one, how do you say
[08:37] it? I’m fighting fighting for it.
[08:39] >> Or this or this one line, maybe, or
[08:41] we’ll reshoot lines.
[08:42] >> Yeah, just fighting for this a little
[08:43] bit more, and that just was the whole
[08:45] process of preparing for the thing for
[08:47] just to press record, and I’m going,
[08:49] jeez Louise.
[08:51] >> [laughter]
[08:51] >> This is about it’s a lot different.
[08:52] >> Yeah, it’s completely different from one
[08:54] take Jake.
[08:54] >> So, this is what YouTube can do for your
[08:56] business when you stop chasing the
[08:57] algorithm and you start creating content
[08:59] for conversion. And real quick, if any
[09:02] of this sounds like the way you’d like
[09:03] your videos and your channel to function
[09:05] on YouTube, we are running a live
[09:07] workshop called one video away. And it’s
[09:11] a three-day event on Zoom with Sean
[09:13] Cannell and myself. This isn’t some
[09:14] generic live stream, it’s an actual
[09:17] working session where over three days,
[09:19] you and I are going to sit down
[09:20] together, and we’re going to identify
[09:21] the next video that you should make
[09:22] based on the goals that you actually
[09:24] have, and architect it from scratch. So,
[09:27] it’s the same kind of work that we’re
[09:28] doing with Jake here, the strategy, the
[09:29] title, the thumbnail, mission
[09:31] critically, the call to action, we’re
[09:33] bringing it to you. And so, you’ll leave
[09:35] with your next video fully built and
[09:37] pressure tested. You kind of I’m sure
[09:39] picking up the whole point of doing a
[09:41] YouTube video for a business owner is to
[09:43] be able to do a call to action.
[09:45] So, that’s what we’re going to be
[09:46] working on together here. It’s 20,000
[21:44] in just a couple days. And he actually
[21:46] just shared on a recent call that these
[21:47] organic leads continue to come in every
[21:49] single day now, and that things are
[21:51] really starting to move for him.
[21:52] >> It feels like we’re really freaking
[21:54] close to this thing taking off. We’ve
[21:56] finally got some revenue coming in. This
[21:58] is the first time in a year. First time
[22:00] in a year where I’m looking at the bank
[22:02] account, and I’m going, “Oh my gosh,
[22:04] there’s a little bit of breathing room
[22:05] in there.” So, huge, huge win. Thank you
[22:08] to Brian and Nathan for helping me get
[22:12] to this point. It’s been a a tough year
[22:14] for me on my end. I’m sure it had to be
[22:17] difficult on your guys’s end knowing
[22:19] that I wanted it faster, and it never
[22:21] happened. But, it feels like we finally
[22:23] broke through
[22:24] that ceiling, and hopefully this is the
[22:26] new floor, and we can keep going.
[22:28] >> No, I agree, man. Future’s bright, for
[22:30] sure. I think it we’re at a really cool
[22:31] spot. So, cheers.
[22:33] >> But, here’s what I love most about
[22:34] Jake’s story. It’s that he’s not a
[22:36] one-hit wonder because there’s a system
[22:39] underneath, and that’s kind of the whole
[22:40] point. And I mean, to be fair, we
[22:41] covered a lot in this session, but there
[22:43] was honestly so much more. Uh the
[22:45] attendees at that Vegas mastermind event
[22:48] actually got a full Q&A panel with Jake
[22:50] and I afterward. Real questions from
[22:52] business owners about like how to Okay,
[22:54] how do I do this for my specific
[22:55] situation, for my niche? Um and we might
[22:58] save that for another episode down the
[22:59] road. But, if those kind of
[23:00] conversations are the things that you’re
[23:02] hungry for, like if you just want to be
[23:04] in the room actually in person out of
[23:06] Zoom out of the virtual environment, if
[23:09] you want to be in person with other
[23:10] business owners who are using YouTube
[23:12] this way, playing YouTube for this kind
[23:15] of result, that’s exactly what Think
[23:17] Media Mastermind is built for. And we
[23:19] actually have two events left this year
[23:21] and the next one’s in August, it’s
[23:22] coming up. So if you want to be at that
[23:24] event and be in that room with us and
[23:26] our team and other business owners, you
[23:28] can go to thinkmediamastermind.com to
[23:31] get more information and apply if you
[23:33] think it’s a good fit. Again, that’s
[23:35] thinkmediamastermind.com.
[23:38] And we sure love to see you there. In
[23:40] the meantime, this is the Think Media
[23:41] Podcast, the number one show bringing
[23:43] you unfiltered YouTube tips for building
[23:45] a profitable channel. I’m Nathan S Wine
[23:47] and I can’t wait to connect with you in
[23:49] a future episode.
